Question

backed up catalogue restoration

I use Lightroom Classic and Mac iOS Catalina.  All my files and photos are stored in the Drobo RAID system and I do have back ups on Time Machine and independent external hard drives.  My Drobo went down because of two of the five drives going bad at the same time.  (I did not know to have two drive redundancy).  I have replaced all five hard drives in the Drobo with new internal hard drives.  I restored files and photos to the Drobo from Time Machine.  However, when I use the backed up catalogue both from the Drobo source as well as from another external hard drive catalogue backup, I get all my Lightroom folders and subfolders with "?" on the beginning of each folder adn subfolder.  All the photos are present with blanks (no actual photo) with "!" in upper left corner.  When I click on the "!", I get a message that it cannot find the photo.  Where do I go from here?  Thank you.  John

Thank you for your help.  I have been out of town and just getting to your suggestion.

In Mac, I controll clicked on the folder with the “?" mark and the folders by each year are being restored as I do this for each year.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

However, Lightroom changed from Drobo/Pictures/Lightroom/My Lightroom Photos where the original folders and photos were located for the catalogue and as it restored the folders, LR took the folder out of this directory (?—proper name) and made a new directory:
Drobo 1/Drobo/Pictures/Lightroom/My LightRoom Photos

What do I do about finding what I think will be the new catalogue since the listing is now preceded by Drobo 1?

Thank you.

You don't say if everything works, or not.

If everything is still working, then you can do ... nothing.

Thank you for your reply.

On the latest folder restoration, not all of the subfolders relocated and were essentially lost.  Unfortunately, once I start the find the location process, all the subfolders from the original folder disappear.  So I think I shall just have to reimport the missing subfolders and accept the fact that my edits will not be present.
That being said, the folders and subfolders that are located do have all the edits present.
(By the way, before starting this process, I deleted Lightroom Classic and then reinstalled it in case I had a corruption in the Lightroom Classic program)

I really appreciate your help.

Any further suggestions?

Did you have to restore the photos also from backups? Are they on differently named drives; and are they in the exact same folder hierarchy as before? If so, just re-naming the drives to whatever the drive name was before will fix this. If you don't remember what the drive name was before, you can find the name in Lightroom Classic in the Folder Panel, it will be shown.
