Question

batch file rename fails for images on remote SSD drive

MPeter1975 reports this problem using LRC & an SSD on Windows.  I have the same problem on my MacBookPro, Ventura 13.2.1, LRC 12.2.1, ; message is,"Some photos will not be redeemed because they are missing or not writeable." A solution involving show parent folder and update folder location proposed by johnrellis fails because show parent folder command does not appear. Alternate suggestions gratefully received.

This is my first post to this community, and I have the problems of ignorance of ways to link the posts I have cited not to mention not knowing how to return to this post to see if anyone has any good ideas. I would welcome to help with that as well. Thanks.

Biggest problem with SSD drives on Mac OS X is that typically they come formatted in the wrong format. Mac OS X cannot write to NTFS drives without a third party plugin. You usually need to reformat the drive to have GUID partition scheme and using the APFS file system to make it work best. Strangely Apple hides how to do this in Disk Utility because you have to make it "show all devices" with a very unclear "view" popup before it will do this. If you need to exchange the drive between Macs and PCs only the exFAT formatting will work correctly but is not very reliable due to it not being journaled. APFS is the native file system and will work best if you only connect the drive to Macs.

Show parent only works on top level folders.

Please check this: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/allow-permissions.html

The SSD is mounted, and the photos are accessible?
