Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic 12.0 Release

Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1, OS build 19043.2130

In Lightroom Classic, if you change the "before" using a history item, how does one reset 'before' to original? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the useful feedback.

The misunderstanding I had was the following:

If you import a raw file which has a XMP sidecar file, the "before" will have the settings from the XMP file.

If you import a raw file which has no XMP sidecar file, the "before" will have the settings from the original raw file.

Therefore, "before" does not necessarily have the original raw file settings upon import.

You can give "before" the original raw file settings as follows:

Make a snapshot.

Click Reset.

In history, make the "reset" the "before".

In snapshots, click the snapshot you just took to restore the settings.

Repeat the action.  For "Original" you could choose the very first item (at the bottom) in the History list and [Copy History Step Settings to Before].

The view set as "Before" does not change the current state of editing, it only sets another  version so as to compare it with the current state.  Keyboard [ \ ] orTool Bar icon:
