Question

best MacBook air configuration (within budget) for using lightroom

I'm considering buying a MacBook Air, which will be primarily used for Lightroom Classic. I'm trying to figure out which configuration that I can afford would yeild greatest benefit for Lightroom performance.

In particular I'd like importing and working through images in the bevelop module quickly.

Occasionally editing an image or compiling a stop motion in Photoshop, but these are lesser priority tasks.

I'm an enthusiast and my images are stored on external drives. I would keep loggtroom and the catalogue on the computers SSD. I am less bothered about the display than about performance.

I've tried ro research what features make a difference to Lightroom, and I understand that CPU is the biggest factor in the develop module. Adobe's page on the matter also emphasises that over 12GB RAM helps, but I have also read that M1/2 macs need less RAM than equivalent other machines. And bigger SSDs are faster but possibly not enough to make a difference in LRc? Searching this forum has revealed people saying that LRC is slow on M1 MBA, but I'm unsure if this is because of less RAM or the CPU. I'm struggling to put it all together so any help would be appreciated

To stay within budget, my options are as follows:

option 1

M1 (8 core CPU + 7 core GPU)

16 GB RAM

1TB SSD

option 2

M2 (10 core CPU + 8 core GPU)

16 GB RAM

256 GB SSD

option 3

M2 (10 core CPU + 8 core GPU)

8 GB RAM

1TB SSD

option 4

M2 (10 core CPU + 10 core GPU)

8 GB RAM

512 GB SSD

(NB I am not in the USA, the pricing structure is a little different over here and the M2 is relatively more expensive than the M1 when compared with USA prices)
