Question

Best way to synchronize new folders from external drive?

I've added new folders to my external hard drive with new photos in them and I'm wondering the best way to get Lightroom Classic to recognize them. I'm trying to synchronize the parent folder but there are over 10,000 photos in total and the "synchronizing folder" dialogue box does not appear to be making any progress--it's just stuck as shown in the picture below.  I can't tell if that's just because of the folder size or something else. Is there an easier way to do this?

Click the Import button. Browse to the new folder on the external drive, Select "Add" at the top of the import dialog window and then click Import.

Yes, Just shoot me has the easiest answer.

Dont synchronize. the Lightroom Catalog only understands importing.

Now if you have another LR Catalog that you were using with the folders on the external drive, then you should " import from another catalog"  under the File menu in Lightroom, and read through each option to select those that apply to your situation.

So please tell us, do these "new folders on the external " have new images not currently in your Lightroom catalog?

Or did you manually move the photo files from one drive to another?
