Question

Best workflow for large photo book?

I would love pointers on the best workflow for creating a photo book with 450 images?

The part I am not sure about is designing the order of the images? They are not in any particular order in th ecurrent timeline. Is there a routine for creating order within the book module that would be helpful with such a large number, or should I do it in the Library Module? and if so, what is the best way to re-order the images in the Library Module?

Or somewhere else?

Thanks

Try using collections, maybe one per section of the book. In each collection you can reorder images, and I'd recommend taking advantage stacking to manage groups or subsections of photos. This stacking is independent of other stacking in your catalogue, so you can build a stack to group some photos, move items up and down in the stack, open or close the stack as needed, easily select the photos again by selecting the stack - saving you having to figure out each group again and again.

When you're about ready, you can then expand the first collection's stacks and drag the photos into the book collection, then the second....

I'd always start with a Collection and create the order there first. Depending on the layout, you might be able to create an Autolayout template that works for the book and can be used to create the entire layout from that ordered collection. You could then add introduction text pages etc.
