BLACK screen when using brush tool!!

I’m still having issues with Lightroom Classic, 8.4.1 release, when using the brush tool – constantly the screen is going black back and forth!!  This is getting to be a pain in the ass – the New Lightroom made big deal about the new use of graphics cards, well for me it’s not working.

Below is my system:

Operating System

             Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

CPU

             Intel Core i7 @ 3.70GHz

             Coffee Lake 14nm Technology

 

BenQ SW2700 (2560x1440@59Hz)

4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (EVGA)

Memory

             Size       16384 MBytes

             Channels #         Dual

             DRAM Frequency            1205.6 MHz

             CAS# Latency (CL)           17 clocks

             RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD)         17 clocks

             RAS# Precharge (tRP)     17 clocks

Try disabling GPU acceleration in Lr Preference performance panel. (Your screen pixel size may not need a benefit from 'acceleration')

And this advice from-

There is likely an issue with your video driver. If you are on Windows, I would recommend going to your video card manufacturer's website and make sure your video driver is up to date. If there is a newer driver available, you can try turning the GPU back on after you install it.  If you are on Mac, make sure you have installed your latest OSx updates.

(Windows updates do not always load the most recent or best GPU Driver.)

Hi, I have the same problem. I tried your advice and unchecking the "Use Graphics Processor" option in Photoshop's preferences did solve the problem of my brush causing a black screen when it was too huge or too small.

However, I am a little worried that disabling "Use Graphics Processor"/GPU acceleration might affect the performance of my device or Photoshop itself. I don't want to cause any more problems for my device. Do you think disabling them will have any negative effects on my device or Photoshop?

Is this a question about Photoshop or a question about Lightroom Classic?

 

I can't speak about Photoshop, but the evidence you have given says that disabling the GPU increases performance. If you still have concerns on this issue, please start a new thread, do not discuss further in this thread. Explain your problem in DETAIL (emphasis: EXPLAIN IN DETAIL, do not say "I have the same problem" that is not explaining anything) and provide the info under Help->System Info.
