Can someone please explain how to sync with iPad?

I cannot figure this out! I have the Lightroom app on my iPad and Lightroom Classic on my desktop.

No matter what pictures I have on my iPad they end up on my desktop. For example, if I take a screen shot, it ends up in Lightroom and then on my desktop. I do not want this to happen. When I try to delete them on the desktop I get the message I've attached.

If I try to delete photos after I've imported them on the iPad (to save space) I get the same delete warning saying they will also be deleted from the desktop.

1. How do I stop ALL pictures from being added to LR? I only want the photos I import using an SD reader to go into LR, not screenshots or photos I've saved from the web (like memes and other things I don't want cluttering up my LR).

2. How in the heck do I delete photos? I can't figure out how to delete them from the iPad or the desktop without them also deleting everywhere else.

I'm super frustrated with this process.

I want to be able to:

  • Upload photos from an SD card to LR when I'm traveling
  • Do minor edits
  • Sync so they are also added to LR CC Classic
  • DELETE from the iPad without deleting from CC Classic

As already said, turn off the preference to auto add images. This will only add images that you specifically add to Lightroom.

The best way is to unsync them in Classic (click the little sync icon on the image or drag them out of "all synced images". This will delete them from the iPad and from everything in the cloud, but will NOT delete them in Lightroom Classic. You can also delete them on the iPad. They will disappear everywhere on the CC ecosystem but will not be deleted in Classic, they will simply be set to no longer sync. Only do this if you are confident the images have synced down to Classic.

In the LRCC preferences on the iPad, there is one which controls Auto Import from Camera Roll. You've got that enabled.

As for deletion, you need to read the dialog box very carefully - as if you are a lawyer! If the picture is in Classic, Delete will delete from all synced devices, and unsync the image in Classic.

If it is anywhere in classic or just the synced folder?
