Question

Can't "edit in photoshop" from Lightroom Classic

About three days ago I encountered an issue with either lightroom classic or photoshop (not entirely sure which one), when I use the option of "edit in adobe photoshop" from lightroom it opens photoshop and then doesn't import the image and proceeds to freeze, every single time. I then have to force close photoshop with task manager to get it off my screen.

So far I have tried the following to fix it:

1. Reinstalled my GPU drivers

2. Made sure all my other drivers were up to date on my pc

3. Made sure there is sufficent storage on my pc

4. Reinstalled both lightroom and photoshop with and without keeping preferences

5. restarted the pc multiple times

None of these solutions have seemed to work for me so far which is a pain in the ass as not only have the apps been getting progressively slower over recent months they are now just fully not working.

PC Specs for those wondering:

Intel i7-12700k

Asus dual oc 4070 with 12GB of vram

32GB of DDR4 RAM

3 2tb NVME's running at over 5GB/s read and write speed

Asus rog strix Z790-A mothorboard

What has been changed on your system before the error occur?

Your wrote that you have already reinstalled Lightroom and Photoshop, but do you have install Photoshop first and then Lightroom Classic? The right order is very important here!

If this doesn't help, I recommend a a complete and clean reinstallation by following the steps below:

If you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 4 here,   https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

Other than the usual updates to my pc like driver updates and Windows updates the only other thing would be installing some new steam games which I can't imagine would do anything to adobe products, I did roll photoshop back to version 14, and it seemed to fix it somewhat, but it takes around 5 minutes to import the photo rather than say 10–20 seconds like it used to. And yes, I did install photoshop before lightroom each time I unistalled them both.

I will try your suggestion and see if it fixes things, thank you for your response
