Can't get circle to show in the Map module in Lightroom Classic ("Save Location")

When I follow the steps from the relevant Adobe web page on using the Map module (seemingly I can't include the URL here) to save a location in the Map module, I get no circle when I get to step 3:

(I tried copying+pasting in the relevant text from that URL, but got an error message saying I needed to correct what was highlighted in my post-to-be, but nothing was highlighted(!) 😞

I'm running Lightroom Classic v13.0.1 (the latest) on a M1 MacBook Pro running macOS v14.0 (the latest). I'm trying to create a circle with a 2 mile radius to drop photos into to create GPS co-ordinates for them (with an accuracy only within that 2 mile radius). I've researched this on the Adobe site, incl. this forum, plus Googled it, but have found no reason why I'm not getting a circle created when I follow those steps from Adobe.

Help, please?

I just tried this and it creates the circle just fine. I have basically the same setup as you. Which part doesn't work for you? To recap, what you do is navigate to the location with the map module. Make sure you are zoomed to about the right level that the area you want to create will fit.. Click on the plus sign next to "saved locations". A new circle that fits in the current view will be created right at the center of your map view. Name the location, set the radius and hit OK.

That is all you need to do. All images that are geotagged inside the circle will automatically be added to the location. Dropping images from the film strip into the name of the location in the sidebar will also automatically add the images and geotag them at the center of the circle.

I follow all those steps. When I click on the plus sign next to "saved locations", a new circle that fits in the current view is *not* created. That's the problem. I've been so far unable to ever get that circle created by following the steps you lay out (as well as on the web page I gave the URL for).

That is weird. If I were you I would try resetting the Lightroom preferences. They tend to go bad and make Lightroom do weird stuff such as this. It should definitely put a new circle on your display.

Save locations

For photos captured within a defined proximity, you can create a saved location. For example, if you travel to Greece for a photo shoot for a client, you can create a saved location that encompasses the islands you visited.

In the Map module, navigate to a location on the map and click the + button in the Saved Locations panel. The Saved Location panel is on the left side of the Lightroom Classic window.
In the New Location dialog box, enter a name for the location and select a folder to save it in.

Radius
Defines a radius, in feet, miles, meters, or kilometers, from the center of the visible map area.

Private
Removes all IPTC location metadata, including GPS coordinates, Sublocation, City, State/Province, Country, and ISO Country Code, when photos in the saved location are exported from Lightroom Classic.
Click Create.
The location appears on the map marked by a white circle, with one pin

in the center and another pin on the perimeter.
