Question

Can't get LRC preferrences to tell PS from PS Beta

(Running latest versions of all apps on a Wndows laptop.)

I've got both PS and the Beta (both up to date) installed.  Although my Adobe program files show each version with its correct name--PS 2024 and PS Beta), LRC preferences show only PS 2024 AND Ctrl-E uses the Beta because it's the most recently installed.  HOWEVER, if I have opened the standard version from my system tray, then Ctrl-E will open the photo in the standard version.  I am just unable to get both versions into the Preferences so that I can toggle between them in the normal way.  (When PS was 2023 and the Beta was 2024, this worked properly--thta is, in the external editing tab, the drop-down showed both versions and allowed me to choose between them. )

I've uninstalled and reinstalled these programs and tried to add the Beta as the alternate external editor, but I haven't been able to solve this "bug."  I'm sure there's something I've missed and would appreciate any ehlp to fix this.

I have the same question and I just posted a question before I came across your post. The Adobe assistant did what you did by remote control of my PC and gave up! Waiting for a resolution.

Sorry I'm not the only one. There are a couple of ways around this, though
they're a nuisance. If you have both programs installed and the beta is
the newest, Ctrl-E (or Edit in) will open the photos in the beta. You can
get Ctrl-E to open in normal PS by opening PS first in some other way--say,
from your system tray. Just keep it open as long as you are working.

The other option is to uninstall both programs and install the beta first
and normal PS after that. Then LR should choose the normal PS, since it
would be the newest installation. Of course, you'd only be able to use the
beta by opening it first some other way. (I have not tried that, since I
don't have time at the moment to uninstall and reinstall them, but I
presume it would work.)

The alternative is always, though, just to dump the beta. Maybe,
eventually, they'll get this fixed.
By-the-way, the beta just got an update, but that doesn't help.
