Can't import and see can't see preview

I updated my Lightroom Classic, and now I am not able to import any photos as well as I can't view any of the previews of the photos unless I click on it while I am editing. I restarted my computer numerous of times. I have uninstalled and reinstall the app. And the same problem still. Has this happened to any of you and if so, any advice?

Re the grey thumbnails in Library grid view, see if this article helps:

I just wanted to add to this conversation as I see quite a few forum posts about the problem so it is clearly wide spread, but I have not yet seen a solution that works for me.

My version of light room is the 14.0.1 release as shown in the attached screen capture

When I go to import photos from a CF card in my case via a card reader, the photos show up as grey rectangles.  If you double click on one of the rectangles (before importing) the photo opens and you can move forward and backwards through the photo files on the CF card and they show up, but when you go back to grid view they appear as these grey squares (shown in the screen capture below).

I have tried the suggestions in the article posted by johnrellis above (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/lightroom-gives-error-preview-cache.html), including deleting the [Catalog-name] Previews.lrdata folder.  The folder was reconstructed when I reopened the catalogue.  I can see all of my existing photos in the catalogue, but when I go to import new ones the photos all appear as grey rectangles in the grid view.

It would be nice if Adobe could offer a solution.  If I understand correctly this was a bug that appeared in a recent update?  I am running on Windows 10 64bit.  I have tried switching off GPU support, but does not affect this problem.  Five suggestions from Chat GPT regarding the problem also did not work.

What exact version of Lightroom Classic are you using? What computer system and what exact version of the operating system are you using?
