Question

Can't open LRC

I have a 24" iMac. recently I deleted the Dropbox app as I find it a bit intrusive. Since then I cannot open LRC. The 'flash screen' appears but then LRC just closes itself. I can, I know, create a new username and work round it that way (and have done - so I know it works) but any thoughts on how to get the damn thing working again on my normal username? I'd be tickled pink if anyone had a cunning plan.

Oh! By the way, I've already tried an uninstall and reinstall. No joy.

Thanks darlings

Steve

Looking for a .lock file will most likely not solve your problem. If there is such a file, you'll get an error saying that Lightroom cannot open the catalog because another application is using it. That is not what you describe. Begin by resetting your preferences:

Was dropbox integrated into your LrC workflow before you deleted it?

Hello Jim Hess

You can tell what a duffer at this I am; I can’t even respond through the LR Community thingy as I can’t find your response in that forum to reply to……this is all new to me.

So, I apologise for that but also have to say thank you so much for responding; you’re a diamond!

I imagine that Dropbox must have been integrated somehow into the workflow, although I have no idea how that happened. I certainly didn’t do that deliberately.

Does that answer your question?

Listen; thanks again for replying. I really am stuck at the moment and, because I can’t open LR as the ‘old’ username, therefore I also can’t open my Nik plugins…..they won’t open in the new username either and the Nik support people seem kinda stumped too.

Any thoughts on how to escape from this mess would be gratefully received.

Apologies too for my slow response; I’m a Community Nurse for the Crisis Team and we work weekends too.

All the best,

Steve

Did you look to see if a lock file did not get deleted?

I’m so sorry, but I don’t understand your question about a lock file.

Nevertheless it seemed rude not, at least, to reply and say thanks…..so that’s what this is.

be very very careful to delete the correct file.

might be best if you have, a backup copy of your catalog.
