Can't Sync Collections

Excuse me if I posted this before but I can't see my original post.  I am running Lightroom Classic 12.3 on a Windows 11 platform.

I recently had to rebuild my catalog using "Import From Another Catalog".  After doing so my collections are no longer synced with their counterparts in Adobe Web Galleries.  I turned on syncing but instead of just syncing the images in my catalog, it created virtual copies to sync.  How can I prevent creation of virtual copies and just allow it to sync with the images in my collections?

Further Note:  If I create a new collection it doesn't ask me if I want to sync the collection with Lightroom.  Also none of my collections that were previously synced have the "lightning bolt" symbol to the left of my collection name.

Hi Jeff,

When you sync with Lightroom Classic, the cloud side only permits one catalog to sync. When you created a new catalog and started syncing that one, your previous sync would have been deleted and replaced with the new sync data. It's very unfortunate, and could only have been avoided if you had restored your Lightroom catalog from a backup (rather than starting over and importing anew).

I don't see any path to get back to your original set of public links. As you said, anything you generate now will be a different URL from your earlier catalog.

Michael, thanks for your response and clear explanation of the situation.  Although it's not the answer I wanted to hear, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and do what's necessary to fix the problem.  Unfortunately my web page contains many links to the Adobe collections and it will be a major effort to replace each of these links manually.

I received some bad advice (not from this forum) about restoring my catalog in the way I did.  It would have been okay if I didn't have all the synced collections and links from my website.

Thanks again

Jeff

This problem is still on-going, has been escalated,  and is now in the hands of Adobe senior-level techs.  Syncing my collections now consistently freezes and then crashes Lightroom shortly thereafter.  Also, it seems like importing files from my camera also freezes and then crashes Lightroom.  I'm not sure if the two problems are related.  I have been using Lightroom since Version 2.0 and this is the worst problem I have ever encountered.

Unexpectedly, the option to "Sync With Lightroom" is now available to check-off for each collection.  However, when I start syncing, virtual copies that I don't want are being created.  Also the "Make Public" button is available in each collection.  I'm afraid that if I push that button I will end up generating a different URL that I had before.  My website links back to these URL's and would have to be changed in many places if I end up having a different URL.

I had a corrupted catalog and had to recover from a backup.  I'm now having a problem syncing my collections to the cloud.  The collections appear as regular collections without that lightning symbol beside the title (see attached).  When I click the button to start syncing it isn't syncing these collections.  Instead it is creating thousands of virtual copies of my photos.  The original photos are not synced.  I am on Lightroom Classic 12.3 on Windows 11.
