Can't update from Lightroom 4.3 to Lightroom 4.4

I am running Lightroom 4.3 on my old (mid 2011) iMac. I want to update to the final version 4.4. Lightroom 4 does everything I need and I don't want to pay for more software and a new computer (better for the environment, yeah?). Seems this update is not possible (why? should be no skin off Adobe's back, no?). Is there any way to get this update? Going through Lightroom sends me to a dead link. I talked to customer support and they told me "it is no longer supported." This is a cop out. Why can't I have the most up-to-date version of SOFTWARE THAT I PAID FOR!?

"that link doesn't work anymore."

It works for Windows but not Mac. Here are just-now-tested links to getting the last versions of LR 4:

4.4.1 Windows
https://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/legacy/lightroom/win/4.x/Lightroom_4_LS11_win_4_4_1.exe
https://web.archive.org/web/20150905230858/http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/lightroom/win/4.x/Lightroom_4_LS11_win_4_4_1.exe

4.4.1 Mac
https://web.archive.org/web/20150906020805/http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/lightroom/mac/4.x/Lightroom_4_LS11_mac_4_4_1.dmg

The web.archive.org links are very slow to respond. If they fail, wait 10 minutes and try again.

Make sure you save a copy of the installer. Also, beware that you won't be able to install LR 4 on Mac OS 10.15 or later, since its installer is 32-bit and Apple dropped support of 32-bit programs in later versions of Mac OS.

Background: Dolby Labs sued Adobe a couple years ago over licensing of Dolby technology that was included in many old versions of Adobe software (including LR).  In response, Adobe apparently agreed to make it difficult to download the old disputed software.  And at the same time, Adobe took the opportunity to institute a new policy of only making the two most recent major versions of Creative Cloud apps available for download -- this latter policy applies to newer software that never included the disputed Dolby technology, so it was clearly instituted for Adobe's convenience, not as a result of a settlement agreement with Dolby.

If you are referring to the very old (i.e. ancient pre-Lightroom Classic) Lightroom 4 that is completely out of date, out of production, unsupported version, then here is a link where you can download the last update that was released. It is not available from Adobe nor is it supported by Adobe anymore. But I understand that this link still works. Please note that I haven't tried it, but others indicate that the link is still valid.

Thanks for responding, but that link doesn't work anymore. I get redirected to here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/download-non-subscription-adobe-software/td-p/11919842/redirect_from_archived_page/true#M166919

and then when I go to account management like it says to, my registered copy of Lightroom is listed, but when I click the "Download" button, it says "Lightroom 4 -- This installer is no longer available" and doesn't even list the MacOS version, just the Windows version.

I think it should be possible to access the last released update of software that I paid for. What's wrong with old software and hardware if it does what I need?
