i cannot remove a photo (or group of photos) from a collection. when i right click onthe selected photos, my only choice is to remove photos, and i click remove, it says that i can't  delete phots from within a collection. I'm not trying to delete them (from LRC or my disk) i just don't want them in the collection. There is no option to to "remove from collection"

Does it actually say “you can’t delete a photo directly from within a smart collection”? If this is a smart collection, then the statement in the error message is correct, you can’t remove it this way from the smart collection. You have to change the photo so that its metadata no longer fits in criteria for the smart collection.

Example: suppose you have a smart collection of photos that is built of photos that have keywords Church and Buffalo (as in Buffalo, NY). You have to remove one or both of these keywords to remove the photos from the smart collection.

i did not realize that they were part of a collection set and i was viewing the photos from within the set name. they deleted after i switched to the actual set they reside in. My bad.

    Thanks for your response
