Canon 6d MKII tethered to Lightroom with Camera RAW 9.12

Hi,

Is anyone successfully tethering the new Canon 6D MKII to Lightroom (latest version as of 6 Sept 2017) with Camera RAW 9.12? The camera connects for half a second but then disconnects again, re-connects and then disconnects. There is a picture of a computer on the back of the camera whilst it connects. I have tried several different cables and three different Macs running 10.11.6 and 10.12.6 with the same result. The Canon 5D connects as usual with no problems. Any ideas?

Regards,Tim.

I solved it in our environment! I was searching for a couple days and it's now working.

On Windows 10, Canon 6D, Lightroom 2015.7 Camera Raw 9.7

I have experience wifi connecting directly with Lightroom (in the past). Most recently we've had success with the "watched folder" as mentioned by @michaelspears.

Anyway, here's what I did.

I tried connecting Canon via Adhoc connection as recommended by Canon support. That failed after many attempts.

I had also tried connecting to my wifi ssid network and then using Canon Utility 3 (not 2).

The problem was that even though the Canon would be connected to the network, the pairing utility would not display it.

The trick was to via my Windows 10 Wifi connection settings and change from a Public network to a Private Network with file sharing. The instant I did that, the EOS came alive in Windows 10 and the EOS Pairing utility.  I was immediately able to shoot and see a photo on the computer.

So, if all else fails, make sure that you're allowing file sharing in the Windows 10 wifi connection properties!

Let me know if this helps

Have Canon EOS Utility 3 version installed if you are using a Canon 6D mark II.

Configure the Preferences to the a destination folder that you will also use in Lightroom to monitor the new files.  Register the Link Software tab to use Lightroom.exe located in your C:\Programs Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\lightroom.exe (Windows 10, 64-bit location).  Leave the EOS Utility open in Remote Shooting mode when shooting.  It doesn't seem to transfer the files if you are on the Main Window of the EOS Utility.

I am using Adobe Lightroom 6.14.

You won't need to configure Lightroom Tether settings.

Configure Lightroom Auto Import Setting.  Note that the folders must be empty, not files or folders when you set the configurations.

Make sure the Watch Folder setting matches the Canon EOS destination setting.

Thanks for your reply, I saw that but it was published back in March so hoped there had been an update I was missing. Come on Adobe, sort it out!

Cheers,

Tim.

Usually, tethering support depends on Canon, not Adobe.
