cant find original imagers after import

I have origina images on my external drive , connected to my Mac. When I open a folder of my latest, it is greyed out and I can not open the images. On the drive itself, thge file is stacked within my working catalog, niot as a thumbnail but the full size image(48mb). HJow can I reconnect so I can begin editing in Lightroom Classic (12.2)?

Files greyed out in Import indicate you have already imported them once and they should NOT be imported again. No need to re-connect either. You should go into the Library Module, click on "All Photographs" and then search for one (or more) of these files by file name.
