Just checking in to see if you're still running into that issue. Let me know when you get a chance!
Thanks so much,

Stiil absolutely having the problem. Can import using the same USB port into Lightroom and Photoshop. Just LRC with the issue. Can import into LRc if I download into a file on Dropbox and bring an image that way. It is a pain!!

I don't quite understand the problem. You wrote that PS and LR can import from the USB port, and then again only LR has the problem.

Please be more specific. What's the exact issue? Do you have tried another USB port?

I've ask you in my former post: "What happened if you copy the images manually to your image folder on you hard disk and then try to import."  Do you've tried it?

In the error message dialog, as @JohanElzenga mentioned, suggests that your selected destination folder isn't accessible to Lightroom. Most likely due to insufficient permissions. Do you have tried to select another folder?

Is your system up-to-date? Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. Please make also sure that you have installed the Studio version and not the Game Ready version of your NVidia driver.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Lightroom menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Do you get any error messages?

Does Lightroom see the USB - Stick in the import dialog?

Do you hve tried another USB port?

What happened if you copy the images manually to your image folder on you hard disk and then try to import.

Try to reset the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

If this doesn't help we need more informations about your environment.

This suggests that you selected a destination folder in the right panel of the import dialog that is not accessible to Lightroom, most likely due to insufficient permissions. Select another folder and see if that works.
