Cant use the ADD feature on import from an SD card

Question

Hi Guys,Ive read a load of old threads and forums on this but wondering if anyone has a way around it. Is there any way around being able to use the ADD import feature straight from a SD card to my Mac? I don't want to copy and thats the only option it gives me.The only way i can see around this at the moment is to copy all my images to an external HD first and then use the add feature from importing from that  instead of the SD card. Is this the case?Ive tried to click on Rob Coles OttomanicImporter on a few of the old threads but those links don't seem to lead anywhere anymore.Many thanksDan

This is the default 'feature' of the Import process- it is designed to protect you from the simple task of Formatting the SD card in the camera and thus permanently deleting ALL the original images.

SD cards should not be considered as permanent storage for photos.

Yes, this is the case. Or Import them from the SD with the option to "Copy" them from the SD card to a hard-drive.
