Catalog

Hey y'all!

I work across a bunch of different catalogs as an event photographer. About a month ago I started facing an issue where LrC won't open a new catalog on my system unless I reboot the computer fully. In practice, that means I have to reboot the computer any time I'm trying to switch between projects. I don't receive an error message - LrC just never launches. Any thoughts?

Windows 10 64 bit - could this be a windows 10 issue? Should I just update to 11 with support life cycle ending this year

LrC 14.5.1

Hi @Daniel_Bowler0431
Just checking in to see if you're still running into that issue. Let me know when you get a chance!
Thanks so much,
Alek

Perhaps not what you want to hear, but this is a case where the problem was fixed by re-installing the operating system.

Obviously, this is probably a last resort, but if nothing else works I would say it is worth a try.

Before reinstalling the operating system, it would be prudent to create a new Windows user account with Admin permissions and see if the problem exists in this test account. If so, it points to a corruption in your existing user account.

In case you are closing LrC and then open the other catalog by double-clicking it, please try to change the catalog from the already open LrC instance and see what happens.

Hey! So I do this pretty frequently - in fact I rarely am opening catalogs from the file explorer itself. I have been able to open catalogs from within LrC when it's already running; the issue is that once the application has been closed, I can't seem to get a catalog to open with any method until I reboot the computer. Thanks for responding!

Opening while another catalog is open now not working either!

Not a Windows 10 problem. But IMHO there are plenty of reasons why you would want to upgrade to Windows 11 that have nothing to do with LrC.

Your symptoms have been reported before, where you cannot launch LrC. I do not know the solution, maybe its somewhere in the forum. One possibility is to go into Windows Task Manager (alt-ctrl-delete) and make sure there is not a version of Adobe Lightroom Classic running, and if so, end the task in Windows Task Manager.

Will give the task manager a shot! From initital testing didn't seem to be appearing, but we'll see.

Confirmed that issue persists without running in task manager.
