Question

Catalog access through Lightroom Classic

Lightroom Classic creates zip files when catalogs are backed up.  When seeking guidance online on how to merge catalogs, no articles explain that the zip files cannot be accessed through Lightroom and must be first opened in Finder (Mac).  The Adobe site also does not explain that the files need to be unzipped first through Finder (Mac) in order to access the needed .lrcat files in order to open them in lightroom.   My suggestion is to either 1) make this necessary step clear through the Adobe artices on how to open and merge catalogs or, ideally 2) modify Lightroom Classic to allow Zip files to be accessed through Lightroom.

I see your point. Can you give a link to the article/s that you have mentioned. If they are Adobe links I might be able to notify Adobe to make your sduggested changes.

I guess that many would realize that the compressed ZIP function has existed for many years in both Mac and PC platforms, and for me (an oldie) it is simply understood that ZIP files need un-compressing to be used.
