Catalog Is Suddenly Empty... help

I checked to see if I accidentally saved a new catalog and that is not the case. I also went to recently opened and there is only one catalog which should have around 7,000 images but it is empty. When I go on Lightroom Mobile, I see all my photos aside from the recently imported ones that hadn't been synced yet. My computer is dangerously short on hard drive space at the moment so I'm wondering if that or my inability to update is causing this issue or if there's something I'm missing.

Everything you say (except the first sentence) points to that Lightroom did create a new catalog. This seems to happen sometimes if you have a catalog with a non-default name and/or in a non-default location. If Lightroom loses the link to the catalog during the update it will search for a default one. If it can't find one, then it creates a new catalog.

That's interesting I didn't know it could automatically create a new catalog. I actaully had the program crash during import, I wonder if that caused the issue.

Use your operating system's search feature to find all files whose name ends with .LRCAT. Open each one until you find the catalog you want.

This did the trick- thanks for saying that because I had assumed it would have shown up under recents and when I checked where the current catalog was, I only saw one file. But upon searching, I found the catalog in a different folder and was able to load it. Thank you.
