Cmd+E no longer working

Put this as a bug because it seems to be but not sure if it is or if I've changed something?

I used to press Cmd+E (Mac OS) when in Lr to open a Canon CR3 Raw in Photoshop. In the last day or so, when I press that Cmd+E it switches from Lr to Photoshop but the file just does not open at all.

If I right click and select open as Smart Object, it works fine and opens the CR3 as smart object. If I manually drop the CR3 from Finder into Photoshop it opens Camera Raw and then I can edit the file.

All my apps (Lr, Photoshop & Camera Raw) are up to date according to creative cloud. No updates to install.

I've not updated my Mac OS for a couple of months so it's not an update to that which has caused the issue.

Any ideas on how to get back to being able to press Cmd+E and it opening the CR3 as a layer in Photoshop like it always used to?

Hey, @Say_Cheese. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out. What version of macOS are you working on? Lightroom & Lightroom Classic has received updates in the last couple of days.

Try these steps to set up or recreate the link between Lightroom Classic & Photoshop 2024.

  • Reset Lightroom Classic following the second (manual) method from this article: https://adobe.ly/4fOPxm4
  • Uninstall Photoshop & Lightroom Classic and then install again.
  • Before launching both of the apps, ensure Lightroom Classic & Photoshop have the required permissions on the macOS: https://adobe.ly/4amzwQg
  • Try launching Photoshop first, then Lightroom Classic & check if it behaves as expected.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

@Sameer K

Thanks for your help. When I posted this the other day, there was no LR update available.

I checked after your message and it was there, so I installed the LR update and then it told me that it couldn't communciate to Ps. I deleted then reinstalled Ps and it's all back to working as expected.
