Question

Color/Contrast/Etc not matching up between my Epson 3880 and what I see in the LR Print Module

I have an older Epson Stylus Pro 3880. I'm running the latest MAC OS Sonoma and using LR Classic 13.1 I am having a problem printing a color and contrast-accurate image from the Print Module in LR. My Print Driver is the latest I can find. Could there be MAC color adjustments (System Settings) or something else I'm missing? I'm using Adobe RGB 1998 for my color space in LR.

This kinda started when I upgraded to Sonoma, so I'm wondering if there is a print driver isssue.

Or?   Any suggestions appreciated.   Best regards,  Frank DiMarco

You say "I'm using Adobe RGB 1998 for my color space in LR". If that means you are using AdobeRGB as color profile in the Print module, then that explains it. You must use a color profile for your printer and the paper that you use in the printer.

Thank you Johan,  I'm using the Epson Stylus Pro 9900_7900 Premium Luster Photo Paper 260 profile, which I have loaded into the Epson.  About the color profile for the printer, I'm not exactly sure where to look for that.  Strange, but this abberation just started after the upgrade to MAC Sonoma.  Easy to blame on Apple, but most likely my own addled stupidity.

The profile for the printer and paper is one single profile: Epson Stylus Pro 9900_7900 Premium Luster Photo Paper 260 profile. Can you post a screenshot of the Print module where you set this profile? Also please note that Lightroom should not show you the same colors as the print, there is always a difference because print is ink on paper, while Lightroom is light emitted from a screen. That is why soft proofing exists, which tries to mimic the print on screen. Finally, can you show a screenshot of the printer dialog? Apple is notorious for installing a simple 'AirPrint' driver rather than the full Epson driver.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Many thanks!  I'm a 25-year Adobe user but I don't always do a deep dive into both the Community  resources or my PS and LR apps themselves.  You help and advice is very appreciated as well as the "MOVE" to the right place for the Community to respond.  Have a great weeked.
