Color grading wheel error

Hello,
as you can see in the screen shots every since an update teh color in the color grading wheels is broken.

I already tried removing and reinstalling the software twice. No change.

The issue does not occur in the cloud based lightroom.
Any idea what the issue could be?

So I found a solution (thanks @dj_paige for the help):

The problem is somehow connected to HDR under Windows 11.
My monitor is an Alienware gaming monitor that can use HDR. I don't use it because Windows HDR sucks and sometimes messes with the colors.

Somehow starting Lightroom Classic on this HDR monitor with HDR disabled messes up the UI graphics of the color grading wheel.

I found two possible fixes:

  1. Enable HDR.
  2. Move LrC to a different monitor that is not HDR and move it back to the main monitor. For some reason this helps.

Sadly I that both solutions do not work
During usage the UI of the color grading remains broken.

Hello,
thank you for the quick response.

The error occurs independet of the picture and is even visible if no picture is selected or uploaded.
Disabling the GPU and restarting lightroom did not solve the problem.
I added the screen shots into the post itself and attached the system infromation to the post.

@yannick_2057

I can think of two possible solutions

  1. Your monitor needs to be re-calibrated.
  2. Your preference file is corrupted and a new preference file needs to be created. See https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Also, you attached a file, its not clear why you are doing that since we can't view it.

@dj_paige
Your solutions did not work. But you gave me an idea that worked.
1. The monitor I have can not be calibrated.

2. Removing the prefrence files did not do anything and the option to reset them mentioned in the article soes no longer exist. It feels like the settings are synchronised via cloud.

The idea you gave me by mentioning calibration was HDR. My main monitor is an HDR capable gaming monitor, but  I don't use HDR. Playing around with that helped.
I will write up the solution in a different answer to make the solution more obvious.

There is a bug here in the forums that prevents anyone from viewing your screen captures when presented as a file attachment. Instead of attaching files, please include your screen captures via the "Insert Photos" icon, which still works properly.

Hi @yannick_2057

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the details. To help us narrow this down, could you please share a bit more information?

System Info from Lightroom Classic (Help > System Info Copy paste the details here)

Does the issue occur with all images or only specific files/catalogs?

As a quick check, you might also try temporarily disabling the GPU in Preferences > Performance and restarting Lightroom Classic to see if that changes the behavior, as color wheel issues are often GPU- or driver-related on Windows.

Once we have these details, we can guide you more precisely.

Regards,

Srishti
