Connecting NAS

Absolutely. Here is a concise message you can paste into Adobe Support:

Lightroom Desktop – NAS originals location incorrectly shown as offline

I use Lightroom Desktop with “Store a copy of all originals” enabled on a UGREEN NAS.

My intended local originals location is:

/Volumes/Media/Lightroom Local Copy/Lightroom CC/

The NAS contains approximately 36,251 original files in this Lightroom folder, and I can read and write to the folder from macOS. Lightroom Web also contains my complete photo library.

My Mac connects to the NAS via a 10GbE direct connection:

  • Mac: 192.168.10.1

  • NAS: 192.168.10.2

The connection is working and I can access the NAS normally.

However, Lightroom Desktop continues to show:

“/Volumes/Media is disconnected”

and photos can show “Disk Offline / Local Pending”, even though /Volumes/Media is mounted and writable.

I have already:

  • verified the NAS folder and originals;

  • tested read/write access;

  • corrected the Mac/NAS 10GbE network configuration;

  • removed duplicate SMB mounts;

  • rebuilt Lightroom's Managed Catalog.mcat;

  • confirmed the complete library exists in Lightroom Web;

  • preserved the old Lightroom library and made a backup of the new library.

The problem persists even with a fresh Managed Catalog.mcat, so it appears Lightroom is retaining or generating an incorrect local-storage volume identity/state outside the catalog.

I do not want Lightroom to redownload or move the 36,000+ originals. I need Lightroom to recognize the existing NAS local-originals folder.

Could you please advise how to reset/reassociate Lightroom Desktop's offline local-originals volume with the existing NAS folder without downloading or moving the originals?

That should give the Adobe technician the important facts without making you repeat the whole troubleshooting history.

    Thanks for the info. Meanwhile I have restarted with a fresh setup. :-(

    I called customer service and they solved it for me by connecting to my screen. Could not tell you how they did it.
