Control and Shift keys not working

The Control and the Shift keys are not working to select multiple photos in LR Classic. The problem is intermittent but very annoying.

I have searched this forum with no solution.

Should I re-install LR?

Do these keys work properly in other applications?

If so, try resetting the preferences. Reinstalling rarely fixes anything.

They work perfectly with other applications.

In LR they work intermittently - therfore, nothing wrong with the keyboard
