Question

Convert DNG to JPG and have JPG show up in Lightroom Grid window

I import RAW files into Lightroom CC as DNG files.  After viewing the files, I decide I want to keep some of the files as DNG for future processing.  Others I want to keep only as JPGs.  How can I convert selected DNGs to JPGs and have them automatically show up in the Lightroom Grid window?  I can see that the DNG to JPG converted files have been created by going to the appropriate Finder folder.  Is there a way to have them show directly in the Lightroom Grid window, either next to the original DNG or even overwriting and replacing the original DNG?  Thanks for help.

In the light of available disk space, I wouldn't do that. I keep all my RAW files, except those that I want to delete, because they are out of focus or similar.

    I'm glad you said that.

Deleting the original photos (in this case the DNG) is extremely poor practice. If you ever need to re-edit one of these photos without the DNG and you only have the JPG, you have lost a lot of the quality of the DNG. Furthermore, keeping the DNG, and not exporting the JPG and including the JPG into the LR catalog is a better practice AND LESS WORK!!!!

You can export the DNG as a JPEG back into the LR catalog with these export options:

Use the Export function and select to Add to this catalog.

This is a basic process in LR. I suggest you review some tutorials on how LR works and how to use LR.
