Copy Settings Interrupts AI Denoise Background Processing in Lightroom Classic 15.3 on macOS Sequoia

So if I select 10-20-50-100 images, doesn’t matter, and I apply AI denoise to all of them, Lightroom Classic starts doing the AI denoise in the background. I can go to the develop module, start editing any other images, I can even use the previous button, etc.

BUT the moment I copy settings from one image to another, the AI denoise in the background stops and it stays in that stuck position. I can’t edit any of those images until I restart Lightroom Classic. When I hit the copy settings button(on the keyboard), it finishes the denoising on the current image that it has been doing, but it does not continue on the next photo. Everything just stops.

Thank you for the work around. I just had the same problem with the ai Denoise.  It paused as soon as I tried to copy and paste settings to another photo that was not in the batch. And I did not try to copy any ai settings. I just wanted to paste basic white balance, exposure, and saturation.

    You’re welcome :)

Despite the workaround, it is still frustrating that copy paste crashes the whole thing...Also, we shouldn’t discover these bugs, Adobe should do these things. I just spent 2 hours trying everything to figure this out.

    Hi @Gabor Lenart

Thank you for reporting this. The Background AI Processing feature in LrC 15.3 allows non-AI edit operations (such as Copy/Paste of exposure, white balance, etc.) to run in parallel with background AI Denoise.  However, there are two constraints:

    • Only one AI operation can run at a time (GPU limitation). If you Copy/Paste settings that include AI Denoise to other images, this will queue behind the current AI operation.
    • If you paste settings to an image that is currently being processed by the background AI, it may cancel the AI operation on that specific image.

Could you clarify: Are you copying settings that include Denoise/AI settings, or only basic develop settings like exposure? And are you pasting to images that are currently in the AI processing queue?

If you're pasting only non-AI settings to images NOT in the processing queue and the background AI still stops, that would be a issue we'd want to investigate further.

    Looking forward to your response!

Hi! I only do a copy settings, and then every AI Denoise in the background just stops.

I would only copy non-AI settings. And I would work on other images, not the ones that are doing the Ai denoise in the background. So I’m not copy-ing or pasting for images in the queue.

And it’s not just the paste. Even if I hit copy settings and do nothing else, the AI process stops.
