What camera? Lens corrections are for a specific lens on a specific camera.

You can see the list of supported lens here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/supported-lenses.html

Tamron SP Di AF 90 mm F 2.8 macro for Nikon: Supported.

Tokina 11-16 mm F 2.8 (IF) DX II: Google doesn't show any lens with that exact name, but the Supported list does have a Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX-II 11-16mm f/2.8 for Nikon.

Sigma DC 17-50 mm f 2.8  EX HSM for Nikon: Supported.

"a very limited list of brands has been coming out for quite some time"

You may in fact be editing JPEGs rather than raws. There are many reports here of people discovering that their camera settings had somehow gotten reset and they've been shooting JPEGs. Most lens profiles are for raw only and there are only a small number for JPEG.

Triple check you're editing a raw in Develop by typing "i" and looking in the upper-left corner.  Your Nikon raws should have the .NEF extension:
