Question

Corrupt Import

I installed Lightroom Classic on my new computer today.   I'm running Windows 11 and calibrated my monitor using Spyder5Pro.   During the import process, the majority of images become corrupted with a pinkish outlined area both when previewing and in the develop modules.   I have attached a sample image.   Any thoughts would be appreciated

Hello. I cannot see your screen capture because my web browser will not display it. You should include screen captures in your message by clicking on the "Insert Photos" icon and not via attachment.

It sounds to me like your photo file is corrupted. This happens because of hardware malfunction somewhere in between the camera and the display of the photo in Lightroom Classic. This could be a bad camera card, bad transfer hardware, bad hard disk or bad memory chips. You need to debug this by trying the Import the photos again using different hardware, and placing them on a different disk. If you can import to a different computer, you should try that as well.

Thank you all.   I'm feeling a bit dumb here as after 30 or so years of being a Photoshop/Lightroom user I should have know it was most likely corrputed input.   I'm not sure what it is just yet but after importing files using a different method, all looks good.  I should have known that something was wrong on my end as Adobe products don't have flaws like the one I was having.   Thanks again for all your input.

Looks like common data corruption during transfer I've seen in the past. I would start by checking out cards/cables/readers/ports etc.

Thank you for the quick response Axel.  Unfotunately, I tried both of your suggestions with no success.   Still importing with the very strange pink box like overlays.   I'm wondering whether I should remove and re-install Lightroom as an option.

The first thing that you should try is to switch off the GPU support from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps to fix the issue.

Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

If Lightroom doesn't start correctly the please see "Solution 2" in the document behind the second link.

Another step is to try to reset the Lightroom preferences.

Just a follow up -   the same problem appears when I open the RAW image in Photoshop which I also installed on my new computer yesterday.
