Question

Corrupted areas in masked portion of image.

I have been working with masks the last week or so and have run into a masking issue where part of the area that is masked is corrupted and has a partial area that is distorted.  Also, when applying a mask from scratch, no slider adjustments of any kind, sometimes the masked area shows up a couple of stops up in exposure.

In any case, the masked area has corrupted regions near changes in value, but also somewhat random.

See attached photos for the picture worth a thousand words I can't think of right now.

Lightroom has been flaky in general lately.

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

If this doesn't help, check your system if it's up-to-date. Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver? If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the LrC Help > System Info menu item. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.
