CPU at 500% using Lightroom to review pictures

Hey Adobe and people in the forum,

who can explain me this situation, I can't even review the pictures without the CPU nearly exploding.

I don't know how MacOS reports these things - but the only logical way to read that is 100% per core. So if 8 cores, that's actually around 55% total load. Nothing about to explode there.

 

A laptop has very limited cooling efficiency, so the tiny fans working at max should be pretty normal too.

@D Fosse is correct regarding how the CPU usage is presented. Some third party apps offer a choice, and refer to the format used by Acitivity Monitor as 'Unix style'.
