Question

CPU for Windows 11 upgrade

I need to uprade my desktop PC to Windows 11, and Lightroom is one of the more demanding apps I use. It currently runs an Intel i7-3770K processor, which I need to replace for W11. Can anyone recommend an Intel or AMG processor that's suitable? Most on-line reviews seem to focus on gaming requirements, so choosing is proving difficult.

You are going to need a relatively new and powerful GPU (NVidia RTX 30xx or 40xx or higher) and a relatively fast CPU. Get the best you can afford. Ignore the recommended specs, you need to go beyond that.

I have the Nvidia RTX 3060 GPU and I wouldn't go much lower than that. According to videobenchmark.net, it performs at 8,201 Ops/Sec, so I can't agee with Sameer who said you want 2,000 ops/sec.

Hey, @MickB1. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I won't specify what exactly to upgrade to, but I'll try to help you decide.

As a baseline, refer to the Lightroom Classic System requirements page: https://adobe.ly/4jWqvmN
Consider using a GPU with an average of 2000 operations per second or higher. You can check this on PassMark's benchmark: https://adobe.ly/3CF3i7X

In this case, the workflow may be extensive, and you may need to go beyond the recommended Lightroom Classic specs.

Here is another 3rd party that can help you decide based on your workflow: https://adobe.ly/43BkDcL

I hope this helps.

Thanks!
