Crop feature messed up with new LR (desktop) version

When I try to crop a "current photo," the program first loads the "last photo I cropped" and then opens my "current picture" for adjustments.  This little quirk doesn't seem that important, but I have had over 1,500 photos to process from a recent event and this matter was most annoying and time-consuming.  Is there a fix?

Go to Preferences - Performance and turn off 'Use Graphics Processor'.

    I tried that and it worked, but WHY?  Why do I have to turn off my graphics card with the new update?

    I never changed any settings between the old LR and the update.

    There's one simple answer for that. "Because." Any further explanation, don't ask. The graphics processor option is just simply kind of goofy. If you haven't got a high-resolution monitor you probably aren't benefiting from using it anyway. I'm using an old HP Pavilion computer that doesn't even have a graphics card, just on board graphics. The GPU accelerator is deactivated by default in Lightroom on my computer, and it hasn't hindered anything as far as my work in Lightroom goes. I'm using Lightroom Classic CC 7.3.
