Crop tool activates on its own when entering develop module

Question

I regularly enter the develop module in Lightroom by pressing "D", but sometimes the module automatically also opens the crop tool, the crop tool pops out if "R" is pressed and I'm pretty sure I'm not pressing "R", I'm pressing "D".

This doesn't happen every time, I would say it happens randomly, maybe 10% of the time I go to the develop module.

You can skip the step of pressing D, then R, and just press R to open the Develop module and apply the crop grid. Perhaps you're accidentally pressing the R key rather than the D key? It's easy to do, especially if you're a touch typist who rarely looks at the keyboard like me...
