Crop tool gets wrong mouse marker when changing image

When I’m in LrC 15.5.0, and press R to bring a photo to the crop submodule of the Develop module, my cursor becomes a cross-hair and alongside the cross-hair is the symbol of the overlapping compass and builder’s square that is the symbol next to Aspect in the Crop & Straighten pane. 

If I hold the Cmd key, the symbol changes to the small level associated with the Angle feature in the Crop & Straighten pane.

When my cursor hovers over one of the sides of the bounding box, the cursor becomes a short line with arrows pointing in the two directions that the side of the bounding box can be pulled.

The same change in the cursor happens when it hovers over a corner point of the crop bounding box.

Once I actually move one of the sides of the bounding box and release the drag, the cursor becomes the hand icon which enables me to drag the image around within the newly sized bounding box.

If I press ESC to undo what had been done in the crop submodule and go back to the main Edit submodule, my cursor becomes the magnifying glass for zooming. I am no longer in the crop submodule.

If I am still in the crop submodule and have made some changes to the bounding box, and my cursor now looks like the hand so that the image can be moved around in the new bounding box, and I click on a different image in the film strip at the bottom of the Develop module, I am now in the crop submodule with that different image, and my cursor is again the cross-hair with the aspect symbol next to it.

I’m using LrC 15.5.0 on a Mac running macOS 15.7.9. I’m not finding anything in LrC preferences that would let me change how the cursor appears.

I would suggest that you make a backup copy of your catalog first, then consider using the Adobe CC app to uninstall and reinstall your LrC.

Also assure that graphics drivers are updated.
