CS6 & Lightroom 6 Worthless with newer cameras??

Hello,

I have spent quite a bit of money throughout the years on Photoshop & Lightroom and have been very happy not having a monthly payment for their service. I recently upgraded my camera to a nikon d5 and it seems as if I no longer can use my camera raw on these files. I also have a fuji which I must first convert it's raw files to use. This extra step of conversion can be quite time consuming.

I am feeling sort of like my programs have become obsolete and that I am now forced into a monthly service if I want to use these platforms. Is there something I am missing? Is there no upgrade for my current programs? Do I get no credit towards the cost of CC for the thousands of dollars I have spent throughout the years on these programs?

Any help here would be appreciated!

Thank you in advance,

Carrie

The DNG converter is always there as a free alternative to those who don't want to upgrade or subscribe to monthly subscriptions. It's your choice. Lightroom and Photoshop are continually changing and improving. However, if you are satisfied with what you have then you can use the DNG converter to create digital negative copies of your raw images and continue using the software that you already have. No additional cost to you at all.

Jim Hess is correct - to use old software Adobe allows the DNG converter to help people with new cameras and old software,

On the other hand, the newer versions of LR and PS have many added and useful features for photographers.

Question, in the "old days" of perpetual software licenses where you purchased the software and the upgrades how often would you pay for the upgrade and how much did it cost?

Tip #1 if you don't want to pay for the newest software, you probably shouldn't buy new equipment.

Tip #2 DNG Converter is still free.

    Adobe Digital Negative Converter

Tip #3  The Creative Cloud Photography Plan costs only $10/month for 12 months and includes:

    • Photoshop CC
    • Lightroom Classic -- the desktop app
    • Lightroom CC -- online app
    • Bridge
    • Camera Raw
    • Adobe Portfolio
    • Adobe Spark
    • plus many other perks...

You’ve understood it. Why would you expect Adobe to do all the work to support new $3000 cameras for people who are t going to pay for it? There was credit for a while. Years ago.
