Custom order not available when selecting multiple Collections

Question

Hello,I have yearly collections from 1988-2022. In each year´s collection photos and videos are custom ordered and appear that way. When I select a couple of collections, say 1988-1998, then "custom order" is not available and all photos are messed up.I fixed that previoulsy by either faking the capture date or exporting catalog by catalog with a sequence name and re-importing. But that is always complicated. Is there another way to do that?

As you've discovered, custom order is specific to individual folders and collections. Another technique: Create a new collection called "1988-1998" and set its sort to Custom Order. Then for each of the year collections 1988 through 1998, set its sort to Custom Order, select all its photos, and drag them to "1988-1998". Their individual custom orders will be preserved in "1988-1998".
