Delete originals but keep Smart Previews?
I have my entire Lightroom Catalog and all imported photos on one 2TB SSD. I also have backups of the original photos in several other locations. My 2TB drive is almost out of space; I want to stick to one catalog but rather not buy a larger drive yet.
All the photos in my catalog have Smart Previews generated. What I want to do is delete the originals of all unflagged photos in my library that pre-date 2022, as I'm unlikely to need to export them again. In case I do need them, I want to be able to hook up one of my backup drives and relink the originals so I can export full-res.
To summarize: I want to delete the old originals off the 2TB SSD to free up space, while retaining the integrity of the catalog with Smart Previews, and have the ability to relink the originals in the future if desired.
What is the best way to go about this? Is it possible to "delete from disk" while retaining just the Smart Preview? Or perhaps I need to force the old photos to "unlink", then delete the originals from the SSD manually?
