Delete rejected files stored in multiple locations?

Hello, thanks for reading this.

I would like to delete multiple rejected (marked) files within a LR Classic catalog.

Original files are stored in 2 locations, I would like to delete from both locations.

note on my particular situation.

I have 2 identical HDDs with the masters.

1. I open catalog , location of masters is disk F. Mark rejected the files I want to delete. Delete from disk and catalog?

2. Remove HDD1(disk F), plug HDD2(disk G). Open catalog, update folder location on disk G, now I don't have the rejected files any more.

any ideas, workarounds, please?

many thanks.

As stated above LR can't do what you are asking.

What you need is a Synchronizing program that compares the same drive or folder on 2 different drives and allows you to show how they are different or the same and then delete or copy one from the other.

As you have found Lightroom will not achieve what you seek. Once you 'delete' from Catalog and HDD1- Lightroom no longer has any reference to the same files anywhere.

The easier alternative is to use other software to 'Mirror' HDD1- F to HDD2-G, and never try to link to HDD2-G with Lightroom unless you have a failure of HDD1.

There are many programs that will 'Mirror' Folders. I use SyncBack (for Windows) that can also be used in 'Backup' or 'Synchronize' modes. Do not use 'Mirror' mode unless you are certain you will NEVER need the deleted files again.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.3, Photoshop 27.5, ACR 18.3, Lightroom 9.3, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .
