Deleting a file from Lightroom Crashes program on Windows 11

Every time I delete a file from Lightroom Classic, in the Develop module (11.3.1) the program misbehaves. The image on the screen won't change from the now-deleted file. When I go to Library I can move between images, but can't make any changes. moving back to Develop the image file is still the deleted file, despite changing between thumbnails on the bottom bar.
I have to close and relaunch Lightroom Classic for the program to behave again.

This seems to have happened since I updated to Windows 11. (I'm too far gone to undo the Windows Update)

Hi Sameer, thanks for your reply. 

In all cases the files are on a local hard drive. I don't use any cloud sync services, and they are removed from Lightroom, rather than deleted from disk. 
I've changed the graphics card settings, I'll respond with if it's helped as I continue through this edit!

The Graphics processor in Lightroom Classic speeds up performance in various tasks & operations. We recommend using graphics cards with an Average of 2000 Ops/Sec in this GPU Compute benchmark.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 stands at 4084.

 

Please update the app as Lightroom Classic 11.4 is now available and confirm if you still experience instability.

 Please share the system info of Lightroom Classic from Help > System Info > Copy & Paste into a reply.

Where are the original images stored?

Are you deleting images from just the catalog or do you delete them from the local drive? Is this happening with files stored in a specific location on the internal drive or an external drive?

Do you have sync to Lightroom Ecosystem enabled? Check the Cloud icon on the top right corner of Lightroom and pause it as a test.

 

Please go to Lightroom Classic > Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor > Set it to Off if it is on Custom or Auto. If this shows you any differences in performance, please check this article to troubleshoot further: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

Thanks Sameer -

I disabled the Graphics Processor and it seems to have helped - however, rotating an image is painful without any GPU help, so I turned on 'Use GPU for Display' but not for Image Processing.
It seems to be OK now when deleting images. But I'm not sure the impact it will have on exporting 700+ 6000px images when I'm ready!

    If disabling the GPU has helped, you can follow the steps in this article to troubleshoot the GPU on your computer to have to ensure the GPU is utilized effectively: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-gpu.html

     

    Once you have updated/reinstalled the GPU drivers, do the following.

    On Windows, the GPU & Logs location is %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw. A shortcut to get to this folder on Windows is:

    • Press the Windows key.
    • Enter 'Run'.
    • Enter '%APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw\
    • Rename the GPU & Logs folder & add .old at the end. (GPU.old & Logs.old)
    • Launch Lightroom Classic.

     

    We are forcing Lightroom Classic to recheck the updated drivers for new information by doing this.
