Deleting iPhone Live Photo videos in Lightroom deletes the actual photo as well

Very unpleasant surprise. Thankfully, the photos were still on the iPhone itself.

I'm using Lightroom CC 2015.8 on Mac OS 10.11.6. My photos are on a Synology NAS.

Is anyone else having issues with Live Photo .MOV files? My plan is to turn Live Photo off, or to try to ignore Live Photo videos during import.

Hi leol,

Please update to the latest version of Lightroom and as this issue has been worked upon in the latest release Lightroom: Support for importing Live Photos (iOS 9, iPhone 6s) | Photoshop Family Customer Community

With this improvement, you can specify the Raw/Jpeg vs Live photo while importing.

Thanks,

Akash

Lightroom classic 8.4.1 still has this problem.
Not only that, but if I restore the jpg of the live photo from the recycle bin, Lr will also mark it as a lost photo. Every time I sync the folder, Lr will ask me if I want to delete these lost photos, but actually On, they exist on the hard disk, they just lost the mov of live photo.

Hi there,

Sorry that the issue still persists with Lightroom Classic 8.4.1. Are you importing images from an iPhone?(which iPhone are you using)

Thanks,

My live photos are from iPhone 6 and iPhone 8.

They consist of jpg+mov or heif+mov.

After I delete the mov, jpg or heif will be automatically put into the recycle bin, then I recover  jpg or heif from the recycle bin.

Later, I found that when I synced the folder, Lr always reminded me that some photos were lost, but I found them still on hard disk when I viewed them in Windows explorer.

After carefully checking these photos, I realized that they are the jpg or heif in the live photos I recovered from the Recycle Bin.

I delete them from the catalog and import them again, they will still be displayed "has been lost" when I sync the folder.

except for that bad reminder, they can be used normally.

Most of the time, I don't want to delete the entire live photo, I just want to delete the jpg or mov, but Lr will delete the other half at the same time.

BTW,When I set the file extension name to be displayed above the thumbnail, jpg+mov or heif+mov will be displayed on the mov thumbnail in the live photo, indicating that Lr knows that it is part of the live photo, and it is for this reason. Does it automatically delete the jpg or heif corresponding to mov and mark them as lost?
