Question

Dell XPS 15 9570 lightroom got slow

Hi All,

Lightroom Classic CC got very slow on my Dell XPS 15 with Win 10.

I tried every performance boost possible nothing worked.

CPU and GPU are not fully used, it seems like Lightroom is restricted to not use all the available resources of my pc.

Does anyone have a similar problem?

Thanks

Kind Regards

Kevin

I just finished an interaction with the adobe support team and after almost three hours of testing was told you need to talk to nvidia and intel its not an issue from my side. At this point i have just decided maybe lightroom just iant meant for me anymore. I am using it on the fully specd xps 15 9570 i9 32 Gb ram and a very fast SSD and this is their solution after 3 hours of interaction. Lightroom is so much faster on the ipad. I'll see if it runs ok on my mac now and if not that is it for me.

Did you have factory installed Windows 10 or did you upgrade to Windows 10 from a previous Windows version?  I'm asking because we were recently told that may be our problem with our current HP Envy laptop.  We were looking at purchasing the XPS 15 with the same specs as your showing but we are uncertain as we see a lot of reports of XPS 15 running slow with LR Classic and that is our desire to be able to run it much faster and with better results. Right now we often get flickers while trying to work through LR.  Have you received any more information as to what issue you may be having?

Thanks for the fast reply!

You can find the information about LR and my system bellow.

I tried installing older LR version, did not help.

Yes, I did, disabling the GPU made it worse.

Resetting Preferences did not help.

My laptop does not have a performance problem, other CPU and GPU heavy application work.

CPU goes up to around 50% to 70% (not fully used).

It is worst using the Brushes.

I had no problems like that before upgrading some Windows features (no heavy updates).

Windows 10 pro build 1903 is installed.

Delete Updates and reinstall OS did not help either.

Lightroom somehow does not use all the resources available, is there a way to change that?

Kind Regards

While you get around to sharing that sys info, a few items to look at.

As you are running WIN OS, look at the following link, read the entire thing, but especially look at tip 8, power settings (CPU)

https://au.pcmag.com/windows-10-1/5180/11-tips-to-speed-up-windows-10

Note that some of these changes can get reset to defaults during OS updates.

Please share your sys info as lightroom reports it. Various bits of info can lead to tips and can lead to advise

In LRC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste into a reply. Interested in everything from first line down to just past plug-ins. Not at all interested in what follows plugins.

What version number are you using?

How much RAM?

When did you notice the slowdown?

Have you tried disabling the GPU?

Have you tried resetting your preferences?
