Denoise was working fine,  but now it starts and will not complete. Switches off after a few seconds. I am using  Lightroom classic 14.5.2 and CR 17.5 Have an iMac OS Ventura 13.7.8  Updates all good. Have 559 GB available on hard drive. Have emptied LR caches. Have set “Use Graphics Processor” to custom and off and re tried - same result.    Please advise.

As far as I know with a macOS, GPU drivers are built into the OS updates. I cannot update it independently from the OS!! NOTE: The OS on my iMac is up to date!

Nor sure why my GPU should suddenly stop working either,  as have had the same LR Classis version for a long time now, as I cannot  update it any further because of the limits of  the OS.

Are you suggesting a buy a new iMac? I don’t have A$4200 just lying around!! So frustrating that Adobe expects us to be able to afford new computers as they continually update programs and make older version that worked perfectly well redundant!

There is a known Denoise problem with Camera Raw 18.4 and versions of Lightroom Classic that contain a lower built-in Camera Raw version. Because you cannot update Lightroom Classic, you should try downgrading Camera Raw. https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html

Thank you so much Johan. I think that could be the problem Will give it a try and report back.

Hey, @maddyn16672719. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Since the Denoise workflow is GPU-driven, updating macOS, Lightroom Classic, and Camera Raw is the best course forward.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Sameer,

Unless I buy a new iMac computer I cannot update my OS. It is fully updated as  far as Ventura (13.7.8)  is concerned, which means the GPU (Radeon Pro 580 8 GB) is also up to date. I cannot install a higher version of LR as my OS will not accept it. The only thing that has seemingly changed recently is that  is CR updated  to v18.4. Denoise  was working fine - and as far I as I know nothing on my computer changed (except CR)

Any other suggestions would be most welcome.

    Maddy.

First, make sure (confirm, don’t just say everything is up to date) that you have installed the most current driver for your GPU. If not, then please update the driver.

Next, your GPU is now 9 years old, and it may not be able to handle the latest demands put on it by Lightroom Classic. Or it may be your GPU is now malfunctioning.
