Detecting duplicates based on capture time

The new 14.4 lightroom update now will detect duplicates based on capture time. I sometimes rename a file to be able to upload it to lightroom when processed elsewhere. I want both in lightroom folder. Will the new update prevent that? How do I get around it?

I haven't verified it, but if you uncheck Don't Import Suspected Duplicates in the File Handling panel of the Import window, you should be able to import such duplicates.

An image that is processed elsewhere won't be a raw image, because AFAIK there is no application in the world that saves edits in the raw file. It will normally be a tiff or psd file. If you import the raw file and that tiff file there won't be any problem, because Lightroom obviously checks the file type as well. So this will only be a possible problem if both files are tiff or psd or jpg.

Do you know if I can uncheck it sometimes? I mostly don't want duplicates imported by error, but I am hoping there is an override in individual circumstances.

Import looks at the current setting of the option. So you can uncheck whenever necessary and then re-check it.
