Develop > Masking trying to auto-detect People

Lrc 12.1, Windows 10

I have Edit > Catalog Settings > Metadata > Automatically detect faces in all photos unchecked

When I open a photo in Develop module and click Masking, Lrc automatically starts looking for people in the bottom "People" box (spinner with "Detecting people" text).

How can I stop Lrc auto-detecting people in the Masking section?

The People auto detect in masking panel is not related to the Auto Face Detection feature. So, unchecking same will not prevent detection system in the masks panel

Thank you. Is there a separate setting somewhere to prevent the masking tool from auto-detecting people?

Not that I'm aware of, and there is no indication in the on-line User Guide that such an option exists.

Are you experiencing a performance issue related to People Detection or you just want an option to turn auto detect off? If the latter, then best you submit a Feature Request at https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic/ct-p/ct-lightroom-classic?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&lang=all&tabid=ideas
