Hello there!
Recently I purchased an m4 macbook pro and generally im very pleased with the performance vs my windows machine but this thing is getting to really ruin the experience.
When i switch between photos in the develop module it happens usually almsot instantly but sometimes it gets stuck and then it takes 3-4 seconds to do it. It shows in the thumbnails i switched but can only see the previous photo and no settings loaded.
I have 30gb cache set up and these are 20MB jpegs so i feel soemthing is going wrong here.
mac os 15.7.1

Hi @Mark34144072u3a7 ,

Could you please try purging the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) cache and restart your machine? This often helps improve the performance.

To purge the cache:

  1. Go to  Preferences  Performance
  2. Under Camera Raw Cache Settings, click Purge Cache
  3. After purging the cache, restart your machine

Additionally, disabling 'Automatically write changes into XMP'  can help improve performance.

To do this,

Go to Catalog Settings -> Metadata tab -> uncheck "Automatically write changes into XMP"

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks,

Arjun

Where are your images stored? Are you using any cloud storage with your system?

Mixing cloud storage and Adobe apps is problematic, we see reports over and over of conflicts.

What version NUMBER of Lightroom or Lightroom Classic are you using? We need the version NUMBER and not words like "latest" or "up-to-date".

Lightroom Classic version: 15.0 [ 202510171722-44f87028 ]

Problem of slow switching between images in the LrC develop module has been reported many times, but I am not aware of a solution. Some people say that restarting LrC helps for a while but the slow switching between images comes back. I suggest you read this forum to see if anyone has found a solution.
