I'm giving a presentation to a group this weekend and want to show my images using the full frame/fill screen (F) command so they fill the screen. The images are of different sizes but all are above 1500x1000. If I zoom the image from the Grid and then hit F, it will always fill the entire screen. But if I do not first zoom the image from the Grid, some images do not fill the screen when I hit F. Problem is, I want to run the presentation manually entirely from Fill Screen/ Full Frame mode and not have to jump back and forth to the Grid at any point. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? You can see the grid view not zoomed and the image I get when I hit F for it as well as the images form the Grid zoomed and what I get in the Full screen view for it . I need them all to fill the screen when I hit F. Thanks for any help.

It sounded odd that Full Screen Preview magnification would be tied to the Grid, and in my testing I don't think it’s related to the Grid at all. It appears to be tied to the last used magnification setting in Library/Loupe view or the Develop module.* And in addition, it’s controllable while Full Screen Preview is enabled. I find that I can easily repeat and control this using these specific steps:

To make every photo fit the screen in the next Full Screen Preview session:

1. Switch to Library module, Loupe view; or switch to the Develop module.

2. At the top of the Navigator panel, click Fit magnification.

3. You can now switch to Grid view if you want, and then enter Full Screen Preview when ready.

When entering Full Screen Preview, the image will now fit the screen regardless of the module or view mode you start from. But if you later change the Loupe/Develop magnification, that will change the Fit magnification to match. So before starting a slide show, verify the zoom magnification in Loupe or Develop.

When in Full Screen Preview, if an image does not fill the screen, there is no need to exit Full Screen Preview to correct it. You can control this during Full Screen Preview using the Toggle Zoom View command, which toggles between Fit and the last used Loupe/Develop magnification. Of course, you can’t get to menu commands during Full Screen Preview…but keyboard shortcuts do work. The single-key shortcut for Toggle Zoom View is Z, or the spacebar also works. So if for some reason an image in Full Screen Preview is too small or large for the screen, just press the Z key or the spacebar. If you have to make that correction during a slide show you shouldn’t have to worry about it again, because once Full Screen Preview is set to Fit, it should apply to all images viewed during that session.

*Basically, there is one magnification setting for Loupe/Develop/Full Screen Preview, so it sticks when switching to other applicable views. For example, if Lightroom Classic is in Loupe view and I set magnification to 25%, and then I switch to Develop, then into Full Screen Preview, that 25% sticks the whole time…the image does not change magnification. That 25% sticks even if I switch through Grid, Map, etc. before going into Full Screen Preview. Any other magnification such as 400% would also stick through views, and so does Fit, which is the one you want.

Thanks, Conrad. Looks like this is working. I knew there was a way to have
it work as needed. I'll run the show a few times just to check, but seems
fine at the moment. Really appreciate your help.

Why not export them all to a common size that fills the screen as needed?
